Turn a PDF, DOCX or web page into an MP3 audiobook read by AI voices
Document Reader takes a PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown file up to 10MB, or the URL of a web page, extracts the text, and reads it aloud with natural AI voices. You get an MP3 to download and listen to like an audiobook, on a commute or while doing something else.
Before converting, you see the extracted text and can edit it. An AI cleanup pass strips page numbers, headers, timestamps and OCR artifacts that would otherwise be read out loud. Assign Speakers identifies the different voices in a transcript or a piece of dialogue and gives each one a distinct AI voice. Translate rewrites the whole document into another language, with optional style notes such as a formal register. If you have cloned your own voice, it appears as the first option in the voice picker.
Documents under 1,000 characters convert free; larger ones show their token cost before you commit. Audio files stay available for 24 hours after conversion, and the page offers to resume where you left off if you come back to an unfinished document.

Frequently asked questions
What file types does it accept?
PDF, DOCX, TXT and Markdown files up to 10MB, or the URL of a web page. The text is extracted and shown in an editor before anything is converted, so you can trim or fix it first.
How much does a conversion cost?
Documents under 1,000 characters are free. Larger documents show an estimated token cost based on their length before you convert, and the AI cleanup, speaker assignment and translation passes have their own token costs.
Can it read dialogue with different voices?
Yes. Assign Speakers has the AI identify the speakers in the text, clean it, and give each one a distinct voice, so an interview or a script is read as a multi-voice recording.
Can it translate the document first?
Yes. Choose a target language, add optional style notes such as keeping honorifics or using a formal register, and the AI translates the whole document. The voices are English-native, so translated audio is read with an accent.
How long is the audio available?
Converted MP3 files can be downloaded for 24 hours after conversion. Save the file locally if you want to keep it. Unfinished documents can be resumed when you return to the page.
