Desktop apps for Windows, Mac and Linux that extend the platform

Three free desktop apps extend Hard EA beyond the browser. The Desktop Companion App lets AI agents work on your computer: it is required for agent-driven software development, and it also runs local AI models via Ollama, transcodes large video files for dubbing, reads inbox platforms for the Unified Inbox, and bridges Live2D. It ships for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Peek Viewer is a fast, lightweight image viewer with grid browsing, an instant-hide key and smooth folder navigation for large image libraries. It runs on Windows and macOS.

The Claude Usage Meter is for teams running more than one Claude Code account on a machine. It shows every account's 5-hour session limit and weekly limits, reset times, burn rate and whether a limit will be reached before the window resets. It reads locally stored credentials and calls Anthropic's usage endpoint directly, so no usage data passes through Hard EA. None of the three needs an account or tokens.

What you can do

How it works

  1. Download the app for your operating system and run the installer.
  2. The app lives in your system tray; the site detects it automatically within about 30 seconds.
  3. For coding agents, open Settings then Security in the app and add the folders an agent may work in.
  4. Go back to your agent or tool; no pairing codes or restarts are needed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Companion App do?

It lets AI agents work on your computer. It is required for vibe coding and coding agents, and it also runs local models through Ollama, transcodes large video files for dubbing, reads inbox platforms for the Unified Inbox, and bridges Live2D.

Which operating systems are supported?

The Companion App ships for Windows, macOS and Linux, as a Debian package or an AppImage. Peek Viewer runs on Windows and macOS. The Claude Usage Meter is a Windows app.

Can an agent access my whole computer?

No. In the app, under Settings then Security, you add the folders an agent may work in. Agents can only touch folders you have added there, and nothing outside them.

Will Windows warn me about the installer?

The Windows apps are digitally signed, so you should not see a security warning. If an old cached copy still shows the protected-your-PC screen, choose More info then Run anyway, or re-download the signed version.

Does the Claude Usage Meter send my data anywhere?

No. It reads the credentials Claude Code already stores on your machine and calls Anthropic's own usage endpoint directly. Nothing passes through Hard EA, and it needs no account or tokens. Auto-sync can be switched off to make it strictly read-only.

Do I need an account to download?

No. All three apps are free downloads with no account and no tokens. The site detects a running Companion App automatically within about 30 seconds, with no pairing codes to enter.
