Turn Character Art Into Rigged Live2D Layers and Cubism Files

Live2D Avatar Studio turns a single character image into a rigged, animated avatar. Generate the character with AI or upload art you already own. The studio decomposes the picture into separate layers: body, face, front and back hair, each eye, the mouth, accessories and background. You adjust layer boundaries and ordering before rigging.

From those layers it builds a rig with head movement, blinking and lip-sync, and generates an expression set covering neutral, happy, sad, angry and surprised. Live Mode opens your webcam so you can see the avatar tilt and shift with your head before you export anything. It is for teams that want a brand character or on-screen presenter as a proper Live2D asset, and for animators who want to finish the rig in Live2D Cubism.

Exports are real Live2D files. Download a fully rigged CMO3 that opens in Cubism Editor with its parts, deformers and standard parameters in place, a layered PSD, or the raw PNG layers. The layers also load into the free desktop app for live facial tracking through a webcam.

What you can do

How it works

  1. Generate a character image with AI or upload a full-body or portrait drawing.
  2. Let the AI split it into layers, then check the boundaries and ordering.
  3. Add the expression pack for blinking, lip-sync and the five expressions.
  4. Preview it in Live Mode with your webcam, then export CMO3, PSD or PNG layers.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know Live2D Cubism to use this?

No. The studio decomposes the image and builds the rig for you. Cubism is only needed if you want to edit the result further. The exported CMO3 opens in Cubism Editor with parts, deformers and the standard parameter list already in place.

What expressions does the avatar get?

A generated set of neutral, happy, sad, angry and surprised, plus the blinking and mouth-open images that drive lip-sync. The expression pack is a batch of AI-generated images for your specific avatar, and its token cost is shown before you run it.

What file formats can I export?

A fully rigged CMO3 project for Live2D Cubism, a layered PSD, or the raw PNG layers. The layers can also be loaded into the free desktop app, which handles live facial tracking through your webcam.

Can I use my own drawing instead of generating one?

Yes. Upload a full-body or portrait image of your character. The layer decomposition, rigging, expression pack and exports work the same way on uploaded art as on AI-generated characters.

How is this different from the face-tracked VTuber Studio?

The VTuber Studio builds a model from animated clips and needs no rig at all. Live2D Studio builds a classic layered rig with real Live2D output files, which you can keep editing in Cubism and use with any Live2D-based tool.
